Hapé, when offered to another, is administered using a tepi, a sacred handcrafted applicator pipe, representing connection, reciprocity and trust. Its sacredness comes from not only the natural materials (bone, wood, bamboo, wood) used to create them but also, the rituals, intentions, and prayers woven into the creation process.
